Spring is fast approaching, travel plans are being made, and wedding and prom season is coming up. Are you looking to brighten your smile? We at Braeside Dental Centre can help you!
We are here to help you determine what option is best suited to you and your desired results.
One of the possible options for patients is Zoom Whitening, as at Braeside Dental Centre, we have a state-of-the-art Zoom Whitening machine. Under the careful supervision of Dr. Goel and Dr. Jost, we can assist you in achieving the results you are looking for. Zoom Whitening is a widely and safely used process conducted to lighten enamel and dentin. A state-of-the-art Zoom Advance Power Chairside Lamp allows us to accelerate the bleaching process that activates 25% hydrogen peroxide whitening. When activated, hydrogen peroxide slowly disseminates, allowing oxygen to enter the enamel and dentin. This process bleaches the stains, all the while leaving the tooth structure unchanged.
Is Zoom Whitening the right option for you? Please do not hesitate to speak with Dr. Goel or Dr. Jost. After an oral examination of your teeth and gums and a discussion of your oral health regime and your lifestyle choices, Dr. Goel or Dr. Jost will be able provide you with options that help achieve the smile you are looking for, as it is important to note that the Zoom Whitening process is not for everyone. If you have crowns, fillings, or veneers in the aesthetic zone, these restorations will not change in colour. Therefore, these restorations may need to be modified to achieve optimal results. We also do not recommend this process if you are pregnant, nursing, or under the age of 13. It may also present a challenge for those that have a strong gag reflux. Additionally, lifestyle choices, such as smoking, may limit the success of zoom whitening. If any of these circumstances be the case, and Zoom Whitening is not a suggested avenue, we will be happy to work with you to find other ways to brighten your smile.
At Braeside Dental Centre, we dedicate 3 hours to the Zoom Whitening Process to ensure the comfort of our patients. However, most patients are done in about two hours. The process itself is about an hour and half in length. Under the careful supervision of Dr. Goel or Dr. Jost and our trained dental assistants, the Zoom hydrogen peroxide whitening gel is applied to the teeth and the Zoom Whitening Lamp works to activate and break up stains and discolouration. During the procedure, we ensure you are comfortable and carefully monitored. You are also able to watch tv or listen to music. Once we have completed three to four 15-minute intervals of gel application under the lamp, a sensitivity reducing paste is applied to your teeth. The next day, a consult is booked to ensure that you are comfortable, cared for, and have answers to any questions or concerns.
As with any procedure, it is imperative to follow the post-operatory instructions given by our dentist to achieve and maintain results. You will be given a Zoom home-use touch up kit for this purpose. It is also important that you continue with your oral maintenance hygiene visits as recommended by our dentist and follow the daily oral hygiene routines of brushing and flossing.
We are here to help you achieve your optimal oral health, including brightening your smile. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us or talk to us at your next visit.
