Sedation Dentistry

It’s not uncommon for patients to experience anxiety or dread when they have to visit a dentist. In fact, a significant number of Calgarians miss out on essential dental care due to these fears. At Braeside Dental Centre, Dr. Manish Goel and Dr. Shane Gock provide a variety of sedation “sleep” dentistry techniques, such as laughing gas and oral sedation, to help patients feel at ease and comfortable during various treatments, including basic cosmetic bonding or complete smile makeovers.

  • Laughing Gas: Laughing gas doesn’t induce sleep like general anaesthesia does. Instead, breathing in this combination will produce a slight tingling sensation and a general feeling of numbness throughout your body. You may also experience some lightheadedness, but you will remain able to communicate with your dentist throughout the entire process.
  • Oral Sedation: One of the methods that we use to help relax patients during dental procedures is called oral sedation (also known as pill sedation). Although the pill can cause drowsiness, it is not potent enough to induce full-on sleep. While some individuals may become groggy enough to fall asleep, they can easily be roused by gentle shaking.
